Pastor for Pastors Program |
|
Why the Need for Pastor for Pastor's Program?
The statistics are alarming. As much detail as we could give to
show the data a quick search on the internet would show how
great of impact serving has on pastors and their families. For
many those numbers are always someone else’s pastor without a
name or a face. No one ever thinks it is their pastor. Pastors
might even think that their problems are unique and might carry
the weight of that burden alone.
The need to care for pastors is usually forgotten about by many
individuals including pastors. In caring for others, pastors are
often carrying the burden of so many they often get worn out. In
fact, it is very easy for pastors to experience caregiver stress
or compassion fatigue which symptoms can mimic the same symptoms
of post traumatic stress disorder. In a recent study, 70% of
pastors do say they do not have someone they consider a close
friend. The same study also reports that 75% of pastors have had
a stress-related crisis at least once in their ministry.
Pastors are usually doing ministry by themselves. They don't
usually have a team around them. Even those who do have a team
or upper support may not want to know what they are experiencing
in the thought of being rejected or worse. We offer a safe,
confidential environment to help pastors have the support they
need.
