Why the need for health care chaplain care?

In times of health needs and terminal illness, individuals often start asking questions of faith, life, and purpose. Fulfilled Life chaplains have training and experience in ministering to individual facing these circumstances. Our chaplain's focus on working with the interdisciplinary team to ministering in a holistic approach while recognizing the dignity and value of each patient. Chaplains are trained to meet the spiritual, emotional, and social needs of these intimate times during a patient's life as well as their families. Chaplains are often a source of comfort and inspiration as they minister to the needs of the individual and the family.

Staff Care

In health care settings, so much energy is invested in caring for the patients that the staff is often forgotten. The staff plays a vital role in patient care and yet they have needs as well. A staff member can feel drained by the amount of care given, drawing close to a patient only to watch them die or go away, or personal problems in their own life. When a chaplain is connected with a health care organization, a relationship is built so that the staff member feels at ease to approach a chaplain that they already trust. Our chaplains are able to give seminars to your organization such as religious and cultural awareness, suicide prevention training, self-care, and other seminar briefings to help equip your staff.

How does it work?

Chaplains will visit the healthcare facility on a regular basis dependent upon the needs and requests of the organization. Usually in the start of care, the chaplain will check in with the staff to see how they are doing and see if there is any patients that may need special attention because of events happening in their life. Then the chaplain also goes to the different rooms and groups and interacts with the patients, getting to know them, listening to their story, and encouraging them in their faith. The chaplain is also available to any staff that may want to talk about their concerns.

What are the benefits of health care chaplain care?

There are many benefits having a chaplain work along side your staff in a healthcare setting:

- Patient support - patients have a chaplain who regularly visits and shows interest in them, helping them feel more connected to the spiritual community, feeling a sense of purpose, and receiving comfort and support through a difficult period

- Staff care - chaplains help provide the staff with support showing that their company cares about them creating higher morale, less turn-over, a sense of belonging, and better patient care

- Spiritual care - Fulfilled life offers a variety of spiritual care services from prayer and Bible study, to listening and encouraging, to religious rites and memorial services

- Marketing - once an organization enters into a contract with a chaplain, the facility can rightly add to their services that they offer spiritual support along beside the list of the many services that they offer

- Affordability - because an organization can contract with a chaplain for certain amount of time, the organization can save money by not having to worry about benefits (salary, medical benefits, retirement plans) of the chaplain while still receiving the benefits of spiritual care

- Confidentiality - a chaplain is a safe place to share providing confidentiality

Who do you serve?

Our chaplains are willing to serve hospitals, hospices, and other healthcare service organization. We offer support for patients, their families, and the staff.
